Professional Development

Dr. Williams provides professional development training on culturally meaningful teaching and equitable programming. He trains community leaders, administrators, and teachers on how to apply The LEARN Framework for Practice to develop culturally meaningful activities. He addresses multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) from a culturally meaningful lens. He argues that SEL must not only help students recognize emotions and the emotions of others; SEL must develop racial and cultural awareness and identities. He says that students must love themselves and embrace their racial and cultural groups to engage at their highest potential. He believes that SEL activities and curricula should lead to such awareness.
